Silke Langenberg is Full Professor for Construction Heritage and Preservation at the Department of Architecture of ETH Zurich. Silke studied architecture in Germany and Italy. She addresses theoretical and practical challenges in the inventory and preservation of monuments as well as younger building stocks. Her research focusses on the rationalization of building processes as well as the development, repair and long-term preservation of serially, industrially and digitally manufactured constructions.

Sandro Cattacin studied in Zurich and Fiesole history and social sciences. He is professor of sociology at the University of Geneva and president of the think tank Penser la Suisse. He is working on urban dynamics and, among other things, deals with issues of inclusion and exclusion of fragilised groups, in particular vulnerable migrants, drug users and people with disabilities. He is about to publish, at the Edition Seismo, the book "Penser et planifier la ville des différences

Stages to Share
Like most of the contributions to the Biennale Svizzera del Territorio, Village is our Home and Bake to the Future attempt to bring qualities from the past into the present in order to test scenarios for the future. Instead of grand gestures, both focus on simple actions and interventions in the space and emphasise the small scale, everyday life, in order to bring people together. The conversation with the two teams will revolve around the potential and relevance of such small interventions and tangible actions that are to be staged through architecture.

Aslı Çiçek graduated from the architecture and design department of Academy of Fine Arts Munich. In 2005 she settled in Belgium where she worked as project architect at Gigantes Zenghelis Architects and Robbrecht en Daem architecten. Since founding her practice in 2015 she has realised various temporary and permanent exhibition designs on art, heritage and architecture both in Belgium and abroad. Currently Ciçek is associate professor in architecture departments of Hasselt University and guest professor Ghent University. She regularly contributes to architecture magazines, co- edited the 11th Flemish Architectural Review and is member of the editorial board of OASE journal for architecture.
