Back to the Future: A Finale Looking Ahead

The fifth edition of the Biennale svizzera del territorio draws to a close with an eventful day. On Saturday, November 30, the Villa Saroli Park will become a vibrant meeting place, celebrating the synergy between craftsmanship, architecture, and collective engagement.

A Market of Craftsmanship and Workshops
From 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, a craft and design market will showcase around 30 exhibitors offering unique and original creations. Two engaging workshops will also take place during the day:

  • Bring your own dough!
    Communal wood oven in the park, part of the “Bake to the Future” Action. Running from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM. For more information and to register, visit baketothefuture.ch.

  • Children’s Creative Workshop by Fabbrica di Ospitalità
    The “Border-crossing” Action table will transform into a space for connection and play, where children can gather to create and engage with urban themes in a fun and collaborative environment. Running from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, free registration at kids@i2a.ch.

 The Biennale svizzera del territorio Finissage
At 3:30 PM, the official Biennale finissage kicks off with a guided tour of the Call for Action exhibits displayed throughout the park. This will be followed by a collective moment of reflection alongside some of the key figures of the Biennale.
This open discussion will review the outcomes of the event, highlighting the diverse ideas for the future brought forth by young people, citizens, and professionals, whose voices have shaped this edition.

CCP07 Exhibition: Architectures in Transition
The day continues with the opening of CCP07 - Architectures in Transition,, curated by architects Nicola Regusci and Xavier Bustos. This seventh edition of the Cities Connection Project (CCP) explores the transition toward sustainable architecture, the reuse of existing structures, and social responsibility, showcasing architectural projects from Barcelona, Wallonia-Brussels, Luxembourg, and Grand Est. Additionally, five new projects from Ticino will be unveiled at Villa Saroli.

The inauguration will feature a roundtable discussion with experts from the regions involved:

  • Julie Wilhelm, architect, MW Architectes (Grand Est)

  • Eric Marx, architect (Luxembourg)

  • Giulia Augugliaro and Hermes Killer, architects (Ticino)

Moderated by Nadia Dias, architect and Guest Lecturer in Architecture and Design at ETH Zurich, the discussion will delve into topics such as reuse, environmental responsibility, and the cultural evolution of contemporary architecture.

 

The day concludes with a convivial aperitif, a perfect moment to celebrate the Biennale journey with enthusiasm and a forward-looking perspective.

 

Additional Details
The CCP07 - Architectures in Transition exhibition will remain open until February 1, 2025, while the walking tour « Spunti per il futuro del nostro territorio”,, developed in collaboration with the Regional Development Office of the DT Department and De Molfetta Strode Landscape Architects, will be accessible until December 5, 2024.
